Our first grade EIP students have the exciting opportunity to be involved in a unique reading program called K-9 Kids. This is a cooperative effort between Canine Assistants, a non-profit organization that trains and provides service dogs for children and adults. These dogs in training come once a week to listen to students read to them. This program is designed to enhance the development of reading skills of our students who are learning to read.
Students choose books from their book boxes and practice their reading.
Each child enjoys taking turns reading aloud to the K-9 Dog in training. Sometimes they read him to sleep!
